It's that festive time of year again, and one of our favorite pastimes here at Betty's is decorating a tree for Mountain Home's Annual Festival of Tree's. As well as transitioning into Christmas music mode with an R. Kelly Pandora station, but that's a whole different blog post. I spend the year scouring The Antique Mall, Secret Seconds, various Missoula-area garage sales...and of course, that bin of lovely items of Betty's that nobody buys that need a home, and a theme emerges!
This year, Lael took a break from her Law School studies to join me in erecting what we have named, "And the Gloves came off..." It's a noble fir splendid with Victorian virtue...lace, fringes, pearls and ribbons throughout...not to mention a few classics in literature. But in true Betty's style, we are shirking the constraints of this era...the gloves came off and are allover the tree...as well as some Victorian-inspired lingerie and accessories.
My daughter Macy was under our tutelage as the next generation's Designer of Trees. Here she is posed as our lovely doll that hangs from the tree:
She also worked hard as our amateur photographer...she told us we looked good here, but we kind-of look scary:
