Bicycle Benefits.

Fridays at Betty's Divine always seem to be the day of the week that we hear of the most fascinating reasons why people have come to visit us...for example:

This lovely red-headed Betty had been on the road (literally) with her husband on a cross-country bike trip. They started in Washington DC 4 1/2 months ago with Portland as their final destination. Despite the fact that they were almost to their goal, they decided to call it quits in Missoula...they were tired of sleeping in a new place every night, of constantly moving, and of wearing their bike safety vests everyday!

After making this decision, the first thing she did was to come marching into Betty's Divine and try on the dress she'd eyed on the sale rack outside as she walked by the night before... but couldn't justify buying because she was traveling by bike.

The dress didn't work out, but this lacy camisole did! Gone was the reflective vest and hair bandanna! She was refreshed and free in her new outfit, off to pick up a rental car to just DRIVE to Portland!

And then, just this morning, we hear another great story...also involving bicycling:

This lovely Betty teaches Psychology at the University. As she commuted to work this morning, she had a bike wreck...she was OK, but her Big Star jeans suffered a little hole in the knee area. She dusted herself off and went on to teach her class to 120 UM students.
When the class ended, a student (who should be rewarded for her brave deed) ushered her aside and informed her that unbeknownst to her, there was a large rip in the seat of her jeans, exposing her undies to the class, distracting them from the tenets of psychology!

Fortunately, Betty's Divine is conveniently located near the University...she biked over on her break and not only found a new pair of jeans to get her through the rest of the day (which she treated herself to after her morning of humiliation,) but she left her torn jeans with us to be patched up and made new by our lovely and talented seamstress, Janine!

Which brings me to remind you all of the Bicycle Benefits program available to you here in Missoula and at Betty's Divine:

Bicycle Benefits is a progressive bicycling program designed to reward individuals and businesses for their commitment to cleaner air, personal health, and the use of pedaling energy in order to create a more sustainable community. The program's continual growth decreases parking demand, increases helmet use, and improves cyclists' safety and health by putting more people on bikes.

Basically, you buy a sticker for $5 at a participating outlet, slap it on your helmet, and flash it at participating stores and receive a discount!

Betty's + Bicycling = Beneficial!
