Betty thought she was going to jail...

The deadline to get your Missoula County school-election ballot into the hands of election officials is Tuesday at 8 p.m. ---that's today!

The vote will determine the fate of nearly $7 million in four separate levy requests by the Missoula County Public Schools district, plus four open school board seats - two of which are uncontested.

In addition...the deadline to get 30% off your entire purchase here at Betty's with your ballot is also today, and for just a moment, we were kinda scared because a customer revealed to us that it might just be illegal to offer incentives to vote....

In the old days, there were pragmatic incentives to vote. Political parties regularly paid voters $5 or $10 to cast the proper ballot; sometimes payment came in the form of a keg of whiskey, a barrel of flour or, in the case of an 1890 New Hampshire Congressional race, a live pig.

But fortunately we discovered that, no, it's not wrong, as long as we're NOT giving you incentives for voting for a certain person or proposition...

Pheewwww...deep breath.

For a moment, we were imagining what kinda outfits would be fitting for jail...stripes?
