Despite acrid smoke...Betty's is Safe!

Smoke prompts fire scare at Hip Strip boutique this morning

Acrid smoke wafting through a popular Hip Strip clothing boutique triggered a response from a Missoula city fire department crew on Saturday morning, but no fire was found.

Betty's Divine employee Karen Eisenbraun said she had only just opened the store for business at 10 a.m. when she noticed an acrid smell and observed black smoke near the business' paneled ceiling.

Two engine crews and several city police officers were dispatched to the business, where they determined the culprit was likely the building's heating and cooling system. The furnace was shut off and employees contacted Temp Right Service to inspect the system. The business reopened at approximately 11:15 a.m.

Karen saved the day! Here's the story in a nut shell...sometime early Saturday morn our furnace motor blew and started pulsating and burning the insulation near it!

Yikes!

Karen opened the store at 10am, saw and smelled smoke, and after being unable to reach Lael or I, called the fire department! By afternoon, all fire hazards were removed! Yeah Karen! Betty's is safe!

Dear Betty's Crew,
I came to purchase an excellently crafted, local Goertzen messenger bag during said fire. I was turned away and saddened to be forced to purchase it elsewhere. I did, however, try. I'm glad you didn't start fire. Fire can't even touch you guys because ya'll are so cool...
