A perfect day for shorts and a sweater.
This morning Aimee came to work and felt like she was entering a walk-in cooler for a restaurant or florist shop-it was a mere 47 degrees in here!!! Our heating/cooling system was out of whack and freezing cold air wouldn't stop blowing out of the ceiling. What irony for the first day of Summer.

What's a cold shop owner to do? Well, buy a pair of gold tights, don a long black cardigan, and get an extra cup of coffee. She also opened the doors to let in the "warm" Summer air.

Fortunately, she called me up at home before my shift and gave me a heads up to dress warmly. I pulled out some of my favorite gray
woolies that I'd packed away for the season, and came prepared for the frigid climate. She didn't tell me to wear shorts and a sweater, however. It just seemed like a natural choice: Shorts in honor of Summer, and a sweater to stay warm.

Tess, too, was on the same mental page and showed up to work in the look of the day. She said she used to get made fun of in elementary school for pairing shorts and sweaters. If only her fellow schoolmates knew how ahead of her time she was. (On a side note, she was also wearing skinny jeans way before they became cool.)
Happy Solstice everyone! Go ahead and keep your shorts on.
P.S. No customers were harmed by the Nordic-like conditions as we put a heater in the dressing room to protect them from frost bite while changing.
